Our experiences from Tenerife
Impressions from Tenerife
Tenerife is the most beautiful of the Canary Islands archipelago, with its capital at Santa Cruz. It is considered one of the most beautiful islands in the world, and the only one in Europe where you can sunbathe all year. Due average annual temperatures, Tenerife is called the island of eternal spring. Administratively, the island belongs to Spain but geographically closer to Morocco.
How to get in Tenerife
We arrived in Tenerife on the route London (Stansted Airport) Santa Cruz (Tenerife Sur Airport) by Ryanair. Even the flight’s price was quite low, we did however no stopovers. The distance from London Stansted to Tenerife Sur is 1808.87 miles or 2910.48 Kilometres. If you were in a Boeing 747 and maintained an average cruising speed of 450 mph (724.1 kmh) through the duration of the flightit would take you around 4.5 hours to get from London Gatwick to Tenerife Sur. Flying estimates include a 15 min buffer for take off and landing.
Best highlights in Tenerife
Things that attract in Tenerife are multiple: Mount Teide (the place where they filmed MAD MAX 1) which is still active, the beaches with black sand fine, golden sand beach Las Teresitas, the Atlantic or the impressive amusement parks Loro Parque and Siam Parque. Also, Los Gigantes has a sensational panorama. From here you can go on a cruise on the Island of La Gomera, view dolphins and whales. Special boats can fish from the Atlantic Ocean where depths are said to be almost 1 km.
Puerto de Santiago
Puerto de la Cruz
I was there and I can tell that the island has generally priced very permissive to a wide range of products, starting with the price of fuel to clothing, food or drinks because of reduced VAT rate of 5%, compared to the rest of Spain where 20% .
Canary Islands archipelago includes the following islands: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, La Gomera, Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.
Where we stayed
We have stayed in the south island in an area called Los Cristianos. Los Cristianos is a town very close to the famous beach Las Americas, about 10 km. The hotel was a 3 star and was called Alondras.
Best beaches in Tenerife
Las Americas- Vulcanic Black Sand
Las Teresitas Beach- Golden Sand
What you should know
We suggest you to rent a car for the entire stay because of low rates, and to be able to reach all targets. A circumnavigation of the island exceeds 400 km. More than 80%, most are on the highways.
We recommend visiting the two parks: Loro Parque, where you can see whales, birds, dolphins etc..Si Siam Parque is one of the most beautiful amusement parks. It is preferable to buy tickets to both belonging to the same company, the savings are considerable
Also, Puerto de Santiago is the place where you can make trips on the ocean and has a panorama figures stem.
The beaches are volcanic sand (very fine black), the most beautiful of which is Las Americas, in the south of the island.
The only golden sandy beach, but artificial, is Las Teresitas, which is in the North near the capital Santa Cruz.
