We spent our honeymoon two years ago in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It was a dream, especially because it was the first time I saw the famous Caribbean Sea. Punta Cana has an extremely interesting setting, being at the confluence of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean.
Impressions from Punta Cana
The resort is part of Bavaro Beach, which is just part of the Costa del Coco. The exquisite coconut coast bears the endless beaches with fine sand that dissolves in the coral reef protected waters. Due to the number of tourists who visit it annually, it is by far the most famous destination in this country. The white beaches and emerald waters turn it into a place of unrivaled beauty, with palm trees dominating the beaches that stretch for nearly 64 kilometers. North of Cabo Engano, the beautiful and quiet Playa Bavaro has generated the rapid development of tourism. Playa Bavaro and its vicinity Playa El Cortecito, the endless sandy stretches of an unreal white, are full of luxurious hotels.

Helicopters, light and famous airplanes in the area, Bavaro Splash (where you can rent boats and a snorkeling companion) are among the attractions of the beach. Marinarum offers a catamaran with a transparent bottom for outdoors practicing snorkeling in a lagoon in a The Manati National Park also captures families with children through the multitude of animals, from crocodiles and flamingo to dolphin and seahorse shows, and even riding shows. From the North of Bavaro is Playa El Coercito, which joins the Playa Arena Gorda, also runs like a silver ribbon to Punta Macao, a rocky promontory that is constantly beaten by waves. On Playa Macao there are loud groups of tourists, passionate about engines and ATVs and has a The bay of the Maimon, a wild beach, orange, sprinkled by m Angrove and lagoons on the background of the wonderful Cordillera Oriental. Also in the area is the Tortuga Bay, one of the many resorts lined along Punta Cana.

The surroundings are also extraordinary and make you really feel like you are in a world almost totally different from yours. If you have the courage to get out of the resort, :))), you can see other things. For example, we were on a trip to Isla Saona (Saon Island), located in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, whose beauty can not be described in words. You can also take a ride to Sabana del Mar, a northeast to the Atlantic Ocean, on the Costa Esmeralda, where you also find extraordinary landscapes.
How did we get in Punta Cana?
We purchased the tickets for September at a price of 2500 euros with all costs included. We flew on the following route: Bucharest Otopeni Airport to Frankfurt Airport with TAROM, where we slept for a night (we had very much time to visit the city till night at night, a walk from which we went out for another job: )) ..). The next day at around 12.00, if I remember, I flew an hour to Paris with Airfrance at Charles de Gaulle Airport. After a stop of about 3 hours, we flew to the Dominican Republic with Airfrance. After 11 hours we landed an hour on the Santo Domingo Capital Airport to leave the tourists, and after another hour I was finally at Punta Cana Airport. After we paid the visas, we were picked up by the transfer minibus which at half hour left us at our accommodations: Grand Occidental Punta Cana Hotel.

As I said before, we were accommodated at Grand Hotel Occidental Punta Cana. It’s a beautiful place, from one-floor bungalows full of swimming pools and bird gardens plus plenty of golf courses. The beach of this resort is a delight, something unthinkable. The services were also All-Inclusive. Starting at 7.00 am when the first restaurants open, until the next day when the last club in this hotel closes, the services are irreproachable. Also, the hotel had everything from its 7 restaurants “a la carte”, where on the basis of appointments, you could eat at each of them during the 7 days of your stay. We even received extra services for “honeymooners”, which reminds me that we were surprised.

It is not recommended:
It is not recommended in the Dominican Republic to leave the resorts (we have broken and deserved, but we do not recommend, you may not have the same luck:)) / ..). Why do I say that? Here the police are nothing, absolutely nothing. The population of the Republic does what it wants, from drug trafficking to arms sales and even kidnappings. In this case, I personally do not think anyone can save you if you get to anangy. Moreover, given that monthly wages in this country are about 100 dollars a month (at best) things get even more complicated.
